21 Days of Consecration - Week 2
Consecration - the act of making or declaring something sacred.
To be sacred means to be dedicated or “set apart” for service unto God. Through faith in Christ and His sacrificial death on the cross, the believer is immediately washed clean and “made holy” at the moment of salvation. What a gift! However, salvation begins a process within us (through the Holy Spirit) called sanctification. This is the process of actually becoming holy in our daily thoughts, practices and choices.
The Goal of the 21 Days of Consecration is to intentionally examine every area of our lives and bring them into alignment with God’s word and God’s will. It is an act of dedication to the Lord where we say to Him, “I want every area of my life to honor You and be set apart for your purposes.” This prayer from Psalm 139:23-24 captures the heart of a consecrated life:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!”
