We say all the time that we want to be people who love Jesus, love each other, and love our city. As a way of loving our city at Christmas time, we began a tradition this year to host a Boxing Day the Sunday after Christmas. We collected gently used kids toys, and gently used clothing for both kids and adults.
We were blown away by the participation of our church family! We were able to donate $1,000 worth of items to The Road Home, a private non-profit social services agency that assists individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake County and along the Wasatch Front.
The Road Home provides emergency shelter and personalized case management to help people identify and overcome the obstacles that have led them to becoming homeless. The Road Home is the largest shelter in Utah, and they help in addressing different needs that people experiencing homelessness encounter from supplying a bus token to providing comprehensive housing programs that help people move into permanent housing as quickly as possible.
